Copyright and DMCA at Cancun Records

What I own here

Every review and guide on this site comes from my own listening and my own typing. The words are mine; the judgement calls are mine too, and I stand behind them. That means the writing here is protected by copyright, and I take it seriously when someone lifts it whole or runs it through a spinner to pass it off elsewhere.

How to report a specific URL

If something on cancunrecords.com infringes a work you hold rights to, tell me exactly where to look. A general complaint about the website does me no good; I need the precise address of the page that carries the material, starting with https:// and ending where the article ends. The contact page on this site is the way to reach me. Send the notice there and it lands in front of a human, not a void.

What your notice must contain

Keep it plain and keep it complete:

Your name and a way to reach you, electronic or otherwise. A clear description of the copyrighted work you say has been copied. The exact URL on this site where that material sits. A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, made under penalty of perjury, and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. Your signature, physical or electronic.

Skip the boilerplate if you can; write it the way you would explain it to a friend. The parts above are what matter. If a notice arrives incomplete I will ask for the missing piece rather than throw it out.

What happens next

When a valid notice reaches me I move on it quickly, usually within a day or two. Genuine infringement gets the material pulled or rewritten in my own voice. If I think a claim is mistaken I will say so and explain why. Either way you hear back from me, not from a queue.
